Client was driving in Pacific Beach when she pulled up on a DUI checkpoint. SDPD initiated a checkpoint evaluation found driver to possibly be under the influence of a controlled substance. Case Summary

SDPD had been notified of a possible hit and run in the area. A white sedan possibly fitting the client’s description was driving east on Broadway. SDPD initiated a safety stop. Upon inspection driver’s car seemed to have damage to the front right fender. While conducting the inspection the officer noted that the driver had a strong order of alcohol on his breathe and was slurring his words. After questioning the driver, the officer requested a field sobriety test in which the driver failed. The driver was arrested for Felony DUI and subsequently blood tests showed a BAC level of .21%, close to 3 times the legal limit.
